Web-Link Security Information
We employ a number of security techniques, including 128-bit encryption and digital certificates, for your protection. Access to the Internet banking system is limited to authorised members.
Secure Certificate for Internet Banking
We encourage members to inspect our secure CPS Web-Link Internet Banking Certificate, by clicking on the padlock symbol on the bottom right hand side of screen, when using Web-Link. When you click on the padlock symbol, it shows that you are connected to a trusted server.
CPS Web-Link's padlock shows that its pages come from the server, ib2.inetbank.net.au and it also provides a date range, within which the Certificate is valid. This gives you confidence that you are dealing with CPS Web-Link and not a ghost or fake site.
If you require any more information about secure Internet Banking, please contact us at cps@cpsact.com.au or (02) 6286 0555.
Notification of Suspected Web-Link/Telephone Banking Security Breach
If you suspect that there has been unauthorised use of your Web-Link Internet banking service, 24-hour telephone banking service or someone else has obtained knowledge of your Web-Link or Telephone Banking password, you should email us immediately with details. Email us your name and membership number and the circumstances surrounding the suspected breach, but do not divulge your password. We will take the appropriate action to disable the service and contact you by email to let you know what you need to do to re-establish access with a new password.
Password Security Notice
Community CPS Credit Union warns all CPS Web-Link users not to store their passwords and/or PIN numbers on their computers. Some browsers, after users enter a password on a web site, ask the user:
" Do you want Windows to remember the password so that you don’t have to type it in again the next time you visit this page?"
If you answer Yes to this question, your password is saved on your computer.
Community CPS strongly recommends that you answer ”No” to this question as anyone using your computer can possibly gain access to your account information if they access the same web site and some computer viruses attempt to steal password information and forward them to other e-mail addresses.
If you have previously answered Yes to this question your password can be cleared for your computer by:
- From the main menu select Tools
- Select Internet Options
- Click on the Content tab
- In the Personal Information section click on the Auto Complete Button
- Click on the Clear Passwords button
- Click OK to clear all saved passwords
- Click OK to exit Auto Complete settings
- Click OK to exit Internet options menu
What browser settings must I use to permit access to the internet banking system?
The browser you use must enable acceptance of cookies, Javascript and SSL3 security; however, it is not possible for us to define the particular settings for all versions of the recommended Internet browsers. These recommended settings are probably included in your browser's default settings.
Note: Cookies are only used for authentication purposes.
We also highly recommend that you disable any settings your browser may have for automatic completion of names and passwords. Never accept any offer from your browser to save or remember your password.
If you are unsure of how to check or alter these settings for your particular browser, please contact either your PC maintenance service, the dealer from whom you purchased the PC or the organisation from whom you obtained the browser.
Can computer Viruses affect my internet banking security?
It is possible that some viruses may record the user numbers and passwords that you use for Internet services including Internet banking. Internet email is probably the most common way that viruses are introduced. Files that are downloaded from Internet sites, or that you receive from others, may also contain computer viruses.
You must ensure that the computer you use to access the Internet banking service is free of computer viruses. We strongly recommend that users of the Internet banking service install anti-virus software that can detect, intercept and remove viruses.
We also strongly recommend that you update your anti-virus software frequently and scan your computer regularly. Most anti-virus software vendors often update their virus signature files and virus defence mechanisms to protect against new computer viruses that are being created frequently.
To ensure the integrity of the Internet banking service the servers that we use contain anti-virus features and do not contain any Internet email software.
